LISTEN (KMOX News) What St. Louis Needs in 2025: Danforth Plant Science Center Dr. James Carrington

KMOX News invited Donald Danforth Plant Science Center President & CEO James Carrington to talk innovation, impact, and the future of St. Louis. 

“Most people realize we have a plant science industry here in St. Louis, but I think few realize how vast it is and how much it is growing,” Carrington said.

He highlighted how our region’s strong support for startups is crucial for translating scientific research to real-world impact.

“You can think of the Danforth Center as a scientific engine but also as an economic engine. The Danforth Center has taken a unique approach in that we’re investing a lot of our resources to bring ideas along, to do the proof-of-concept necessary, to do the research that is primed for building a startup company around.

“Impact doesn’t happen just by making a scientific discovery. You have to work on it from that point and you have to invest in it.”
