Danforth Center Welcomes Visitors from across the World to St. Louis’s Innovation Community

Last month, visitors from the Consulate-General of Japan came to St. Louis to learn more about innovation in agriculture, geospatial technologies, healthcare, and plant research when we welcomed them to visit us at the Danforth Center. The group included Consul General of Japan Hiroshi Tajima, Chief Executive Director at the Japan External Trade Organization Hiroyuki Nemoto, Consul of Economic Affairs of the Consulate General of Japan Haruka Sakamoto, and Director of Public Affairs at the Japan External Trade Organization Tsubasa Hashimoto.

Representatives were met by President and CEO Jim Carrington, PhD who spoke about how the Danforth Center, which is the largest plant-focused research institute in the world, is driving the technologies that will change the future for the better. They then had the opportunity to see some of our world-class facilities before meeting with Danforth Center leadership.

While in St. Louis, the Consulate-General of Japan also paid a visit to BioSTL, an organization that invests in promising startups and entrepreneurs working in plant and life sciences. The trip was facilitated with the help of Greater St. Louis Inc. We are grateful that the Consulate-General of Japan could visit and learn more about the burgeoning innovation community here in St. Louis.
