Planned Giving

Create a legacy, and a better world, with the Danforth Center. A sustainable world for future generations starts with your planned gift today.

Achieve your giving goals and ensure your legacy.

When you support the Danforth Center with a planned gift, you are helping find sustainable solutions to some of the 21st century’s most pressing challenges. There are several ways to create a legacy and support the work of the Danforth Center in a tax-efficient manner.

Gifts that cost you nothing now

  • Bequests: The simplest way to create a legacy while reducing estate taxes is by adding simple language to your will (click for sample language). This provides a way to build upon the gifts that you have provided during your lifetime.
  • Retirement Plans and Donor Advised Funds: Naming the Danforth Center as the beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or Donor Advised Fund is an easy way to make a deferred gift. In many cases, this can be as simple as updating the beneficiary designation with the company that holds your account.

Gifts that give back

  • Charitable Gift Annuities: In exchange for a gift of cash or securities to the Danforth Center, you receive fixed payments for life.
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts: If you are concerned about the high cost of capital gains tax upon sale of appreciated property, the CRT may be for you.

When you make a planned gift to the Danforth Center, and notify us that you have done so, we will welcome you into the Danforth Center WHD Legacy Society. Members of the WHD Legacy Society enjoy special communications and invitations to exclusive events.
